Introduction: 

Changsha University of Science & Technology (CUST) is an engineering-centered multidisciplinary university integrating engineering, science, management, economics, liberal arts and law, with strong disciplinary advantages and prominent features in the industries of communications, electric power and water conservancy. The university is jointly established by the Central Government and Hunan Provincial Government, mainly under the administration of Hunan Province.

The university boasts of 17 schools and departments, with 1 post-doctoral workstation, 3 discipline and 15 sub-disciplines for doctoral degrees, 18 disciplines and 104 sub-disciplines for master’s degrees. It is accredited to confer master’s degrees to those with equivalent academic attainments and to confer master of engineering and MBA and other five types of professional master degrees. It has 7 key disciplines at provincial or ministerial level, 21 key specialties at provincial level. The university also establishes 13 key laboratories at provincial or ministerial level, 7 research bases of Philosophy and Social Sciences at provincial level, 6 demonstration laboratories for basic courses at provincial level, 20 excellent Bases for Educational Practices at provincial level.

The university recruits students from 31 municipalities, provinces and autonomous regions. And the full-time enrolled students total 36,700, among whom are 34,000 undergraduate students, 2,700 postgraduate students and PhD candidates. The graduate employment rate has kept at more than 95% for consecutive years, topping Hunan Province. The university is accredited to enroll international students and students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, and has established cooperation and exchange programs with over ten universities and scientific institutes from the USA, UK, France, Russia, Canada, South Korea, Japan and Australia. The university also cooperates with Xinjiang Autonomous Region in training senior engineering talents of the minority ethics, and jointly train students of national defense with the Air Force of the People’s Liberation Army of China.

City:

Cangsha sits at the northeast of Hunan Province in south-central China, fed by the Xiang River, west of Jiangxi and south of Hubei. It is known for its warm climate and is the economic and political capital of Hunan. Thanks to its position as the central transport hub for Hunan, it is also easily reached by air, rail and road, with a limited passenger service bringing visitors by water.Changsha has a firm place in the modern history of China, as Chairman Mao-the Father of modern China – grew up in the nearby village of Shaoshan. His childhood home is now known as Chairman Mao Zedong’s Former Residence and receives visitors daily. Within the city, his former office and another residence can also be found by those interested in understanding the birth of Chinese Communism. Changsha Museum has a collection calligraphy and prose written in Chairman Mao’s calligraphy.
